Dr. John Hayes opened his office in Portland Maine in 1981 and practiced there for 36 years operating a busy Chiropractic Orthopedic clinic.  His oldest daughter Dr. Amber Hayes took over the Hayes Chiropractic Center (Portland) in 2016.  Dr. John and his wife Jan returned to their hometown of Newport  They are excited to return home and to enjoy the wonders of Aquidneck Island and to open the new office on Bellevue Avenue beginning April 3, 2017.

Dr. John says that "three decades of treating patients for back pain, sciatica, neck pain, headaches, sports injuries and motor vehicle accidents have taught me that patients first want a doctor to listen to them and form a partnership to work toward addressing their individual health concerns quickly, efficiently and at low cost. Patients also want personal attention and that is why I offer private consultations to determine if chiropractic is the correct form of care to treat their health concerns."

Besides general chiropractic care, Dr. Hayes also utilizes many treatment methods including deep muscle and fascia techniques and Dry Needling. He has extensive training in the care of the bones and joints of the spine, arms, and legs, as well as related structures – nerves, ligaments, tendons and muscles, conditions such as sprains, strains, herniated discs, disc problems, sciatica, headaches, etc.

Reviews From our Satisfied Patients

  • "I was very impressed with the chiropractic care I received from Dr. Hayes. I had received chiropractic in the past for my neck pain, but not to this level of care. After only a few sessions, my symptoms began to disappear, especially my neck pain, and I know I would not have been able to perform to my everyday work functions without the treatment I received."
    John Doe / Newport, RI
  • "As a court reporter, using my hands to type on a daily basis is a requirement. The work is speedy and can often last for hours at a time. Several months ago, every movement I made became excruciatingly painful. I started seeing Dr. Hayes and got started on a program that helped right away. The doctor stressed the importance of my posture and proper hand and arm placement."

  • "I have benefited tremendously from the chiropractic care I received from Dr. Hayes. Not only has the adjustments helped alleviate my stiffness and aches, but it has helped me have more energy and just feel more balanced over all. A few months ago, I was able to resume a favorite hobby of mine - golf. Due to my previous pain, I never thought that’d be possible."
